Melissa Ballate, Blue Daring’s president, appointed to the Chicago Police Board
06/30/2010 – Melissa Ballate, president of Blue Daring, has been appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley to serve on the Chicago Police Board. The appointment, which was proposed by the Committee of Police and Fire, went into effect today post approval by the full City Council.
The Chicago Police Board is a nine-member independent civilian body that oversees certain activities of the Chicago Police Department inclusive of deciding on officer disciplinary cases, recommending candidates for Police Superintendent (when there is a vacancy) and serving as an open channel for community concerns through monthly public meetings.
